NY-NJ Chapter/MLA Annual Meeting 2020
The Round Table

The 2020 Annual Program Planning Committee of the NY-NJ Chapter/MLA has chosen The Round Table: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as its theme. King Arthur invited his Knights, and our Chapter has invited “MLA Knights” (Lisa K. Traditi, Kate Flewelling, Shannon Jones, Beverly Murphy, Brenda Linares and Jerry Perry) to share seats around our virtual round table.  Regardless of race and ethnicity, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, political beliefs, language, culture, nationality, age, ability status, and religion— everyone has something to contribute to the discussion. The focus of our meeting will be on how can we make sure everyone has a seat at the table, and all voices are heard!

Technical requirements

BlueJeans is the online software which the NY-NJ MLA Chapter will use to host the meeting. Please check out the technical requirements. In order to participate in the breakout discussions during the conference, we recommend logging in with a computer with a microphone or using the BlueJeans smartphone app (available on Android and iOS) and choosing app video and audio. Calling in using a phone will not allow for full participation. While a camera is not required for attendance, you may want to turn this feature on during small group discussions.

We will be offering pre-conference technical checks for all participants, so please plan to sign up for a technical check session. We will also offer appointments on an as-needed basis.

Unfortunately, we will be unable to offer refunds for those with technical difficulties, so we recommend that each participant plan to attend at least one technical check. If you have any concerns, please email the Programming Chair, Sarah Jewell at stjewell@gmail.com.
