The Restaurant

			Christer's Restaurant is located at 145 West 55th Street, New York City, between 6th and 7th Avenues. It is 1 block east of the N and R trains, as well as near the B, D, E, and F trains. It is also convenient to the 50th and 57th Street crosstown buses. Parking facilities are nearby.

About Our Speaker

A Chelsea resident and long time activist, Christine Quinn was elected to the New York City Council in 1999. During the late 1980s, she was the lead organizer for the Housing Justice Campaign, working with a coalition of neighborhood housing groups, tenant organizations, and religious, union and community leaders. In 1991, Christine was the campaign manager for Tom Duane's city council race. She then served as his Chief of Staff, continuing with her outreach to community groups. Appointed Executive Director of the Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project in 1996, Christine worked to expand the range of programs of this victim services agency and, in addition, increased awareness of bias crimes nationwide. Christine serves on the City Council's committees on Health, Contracts, Youth Services and Civil Service and Labor. She continues to work with our communities on domestic violence, bias crimes, housing and education issues.
